Aurora "Roe" Teagarden revisits her first case in Charlaine Harris' First Scene Alive. In Real Murders, librarian Roe is a member of the Real Murders Club, a group that gets together every month to rehash a true crime. Roe's sleuthing skills were essential when someone began murdering club members in the same ways as in the true crimes they've been discussing. Roe catches the murderers with the help of her neighbor, writer Robin Crusoe, who goes on to write a bestseller about the case. Now as First Scene Alive begins, a miniseries is being made based on Robin's book, filming in town, and bringing back Robin who has been living in Hollywood. Also in town is Robin's rumored girlfriend, Celia, who is playing the character based on Roe in the series.

Roe is unhappy the movie is being made and even more unhappy that it will be right under her nose in town, so when Robin calls asking to see her, she turns him down. Meanwhile, she's back working at the library where she has to put up with her boss' new secretary, Patricia, who is less than friendly with everyone.

When the movie begins filming with some surprise cast members, Roe can't just pretend it's not happening any longer. Then when Celia is murdered, Roe steps in to do what she does best, figure out who is the killer before they strike again.

This isn't my favorite book in the series, but I did give it 4 stars which is consistent with the previous entry in the series, A Fool and His Honey
