Lexy Lomax is a woman with a past; it’s not necessarily a bad past, but she does have a suitcase full of 500,000 in cash that she doesn’t want anyone to find out about and she’s trying not to spend. She’s trying to escape from her husband, the aging host of an antiques show, and establish herself away from her materialistic life in London. With chihuahua, Kinky, in tow, she’s living in a run-down oceanfront cabin, and she doesn’t have enough money for kibble not to mention gas for her car. When she gets a phone call and is confused with the deceased former resident of the cabin, who just happened to be a private detective, she thinks of it as an easy way to make ends meet until she find a real job. When the client’s wife ends up dead in a field, Lexy realizes how wrong she really was about it being easy. Dead Woman’s Shoes, Hill’s first Lexy Lomax book is numerous and quaint; unfortunately there is only one more book in the series.
